A journey back in time.
Ride the scenic and historic Walhalla Goldfields Railway, cut into the steep Stringers creek gorge from Walhalla to Thomson and back, a one hour return trip. Stringers creek was the named after Ned Stringer who found the first gold in the region in 1862, and Walhalla became a gold rush town.
Today I’m travelling with the Spirit of Yallourn Fowler Diesel locomotive engine on this historic railway.
Thankyou to the volunteers of the Walhalla Goldfields Railway for restoring, maintaining and running this unique tourist railway.
Walhalla once a gold mining boom town, is now a historic township of just 20 residents, a popular tourist destination west of Melbourne in Gippsland mountains, Victoria, Australia.
Enjoy the journey, Linda
