Before going to Bali | Bali travel 2025

Before going to Bali, 4 things to do online: eVisa On Arrival, Tourist Levy, Customs Declaration, and Health Pass

Before going to Bali Indonesia, there are 4 things to do that can make your journey through immigration at the airport must faster, save time and hassle.

  • ✅eVisa on Arrival
  • ✅Customs Declaration
  • ✅SatuSehat Health Pass
  • ✅Bali Tourist Levy

You can do these things when you arrive at the Bali airport, however you will need to wait in long queues for the Visa on Arrival, and you will need to get online in the airport to complete the Customs Declaration, Health Pass and pay the Bali Tourist Levy.

I recommend doing them before you travel if you can.

Note that this information, and the video below, is current as of August 2025, always check with the Indonesian official government websites for the latest and current information, as things change.

There are two common problems with getting the eVisa on Arrival online, they are 1. Payment failure and 2. Already have a current visa

eVisa on Arrival

You can get a Visa on Arrival in person when you arrive, but , it’s much faster and smoother if you pre-apply online and get the  e-Visa linked to your passport.

If you prefer on-the-spot arrival processing, you can get Visa on Arrival, but be prepared for possibly very long  lines.  I highly recommend the e-Visa for convenience.

I’ll show you two different forms to do this on the official Indonesian government immigration website. One is faster.

First, most people land at this site, for all visas to Indonesia

🌐Indonesia Visas: https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/

Lets dive into some details, select country of your passport; Purpose – select general, family or social; Sub-purpose – select tourist, family, transit; select B1 tourist visa on arrival.

You can stay 30 days on this tourist visa , it can be extended once for another 30 days.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6  months And the visa is valid for 90 days… so apply with in 90 days of your departure date from Bali

Upload passport style self photo and scanned passport , you’ll need jpeg and pdf files of your passport.

Fill out details of when you are arriving, where you are staying and how long for . Then you’ll then process your payment for the fee.

Once approved, download and print your e-Visa confirmation, the link to download will be emailed to you.

The eVisa is linked to your passport, when you arrive at the airport, go to the electronic scanning gages, scan your passport and if all is well you will be through very quickly

Tourist Visa Only

There is another page, where it is easier if you just want a visa on arrival

🌐Indonesia Visa on Arrival: https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/web/application_bvk

🌐 Fill out this page: https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/web/application_voa

This newly updated page allows you to scan your passport page using  your mobile phone or web camera, it is easier..  you dont need the jpgs and pdfs

Check to see if your country is exempt, if not, then apply for visa on arrival. It already has visa on arrival selected, 30 days visa.   Select arrival airport and payment method, then scan your passport and check the details and continue.

Problem 1

Many people find whilst doing their eVisa that if didn’t offer a payment option, or you paid and there was a payment failed message.  To go the Indonesian immigration website and find this page to retrieve your visa, when you get the details it will say awaiting payment. Click on the detail , select make payment and pay.

Problem 2

I had this problem. I applied for my eVisa online and after I put all the details in, the system told me that I already had a visa. I could not apply for another one.

In the past few weeks (early August 2025) they are now doing something about this.

I travelled to Bali last year, 12 months ago,  on a 30 day eVisa on arrival, and I did leave the country of Indonesia after 10 days. However. It turns out, that visa was still active, and not ended. It was stuck and needed to be cancelled or ended by officials.

I could not get an eVisa before travelling. So I arrived at the airport and queued up.

I queued to pay the visa, after 40 minutes queue I was told that I could not be processed and I must go to the desk that says “passport issues”. I queued there for 20 minutes… to then have that lady tell me no, she could not process the visa. I asked what is wrong, she said ‘visa is stuck’. I was sent to the manual immigration queue, . Another 50 minutes of queues and the immigration fixed the issue and let me though;  1 hour 50 minutes it took.

But I have just found out, they have now updated the system so that you can select to cancel the last, still valid visa, and get a new one. There will be a check box you can select to agree to immigration cancelling the old visa. Hope that works. Its new, there may be issues with it, it may work perfectly.

Customs Declaration

Indonesian customs declaration must be completed online now, there are no paper forms. You must fill out the customs declaration online, there are no paper forms for this anymore.

You can either fill it out within 3 days before you travel, or do it online when you are in the airport. You can not do it any more than 3 days out before travel.  Easier and faster to do it before you go and board your flight.

🌐Customs Declaration: https://ecd.beacukai.go.id/

On the website, fill out travel and arrival details, number of bags, passport details, and it will ask you about what you are bringing into the country, just like the old paper forms.

You will get a QR code. Save the QR code.  Take a screen shot if on your phone, keep it safe. Print the QR code if you can. You must show this QR code to get through customs.

Be prepared to show the customs declaration QR code to customs officials after you pick up your baggage.   If you have a printed copy or screen shot it will be easy and fast and you wont have to get online in the airport…where…believe me the Wi-Fi hardly works and keeps dropping out

They do have computers there you can use to fill it out in the airport too, use their computers.

The customs declaration of free of charge, if you are being asked to pay for it then you are on a scam site, find the official government site, it is free

Always check with the Indonesian official government websites for latest information and processes, things can change.

Bali Tourist Levy

The tourist levy .  This fee contributes to preserving Bali’s environment, culture, and infrastructure—so your money goes right back into supporting the island!”

Bali Tourist Levy: https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id/

This can be done up to 180 days prior to your date of entry to Bali.

Cost is 150k IDR. If you are not a tourist going to bali, there are exemptions, apply for an exemption. Enter your name and email and passport number, and arrival date, choose a payment method, and submit

Print out the document , evidence that you have paid it,  take a screen shot, save the document on your phone so that you can produce the evidence of payment at any time….even when you cant get online.

This can be done in the airport on their computers, or on your phone, if you havent done it before you travel.

Bali officials do random checks at major popular tourist sites around the island, at times to check that you have paid the levy, so have the evidence readily available and you may be fined if you have not paid it.

Always check with the Indonesian  official government websites for latest information and processes, things can change.

SatuSehat Health Pass

The SatuSehat Health Pass form needs to be done on the day you travel, or very close to it, and can be done when you have your seat number and your date of arrival,

This can be done online at a web page, or via the mobile app.

🌐SatuSehat Health Pass: https://sshp.kemkes.go.id./

Select mode of transport for arrival. Enter personal details, passport and travel details  The form asks about your health in the last 21 days, you should do this on the day you are arriving in Bali, or very close to it.

There are no paper forms for this, or you can fill it out when at the airport, online. You will get a barcode—be ready to show this when asked, either in digital form or print-out.

Always check with the Indonesian official government websites for latest information and processes, things can change.

Remember

Watch out for scammers charging you more money than you need to pay. Check the official government websites for the forms.

Always check the latest information on Indonesia government websites, things change.
